RELIEF FOR TYPHOON HAIYAN/YOLANDA| DONATE THROUGH NUFFNANG #NNForPH

It breaks my heart when I heard the news about the people and the damaged historical sites caused by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Cebu and Bohol. And few weeks after one of the worst natural disasters in a recent history of mankind hit the country. Typhoon Haiyan swept through the Visayas Region, Philippines that killed and injured thousands of our brothers and sisters leaving them homeless, no food, medicine and shelter.

Typhoon Yolanda or internationally known as Typhoon Haiyan has been part of the news since it struck the Phillippines on the 8th of November 2013, almost half a million people are now homeless with no access to food, now water supply and even medicine. The death toll are increasing and the list keeps getting longer every single day.

I know this too shall pass but for now we can make a difference and lets keep them in our prayers. I am currently low on my travel funds so I decided not to take trips at the moment. In addition, I would also like to give a commendation, a hearty and heroic salute to all my friends and colleagues who took part in our relief operation activities who dedicated their weekend volunteering at the Philippine Red Cross QC Chapter for the #YolandaPH relief operations.

To all my blogger friends, Nuffnang is organizing a regional donation drive to raise funds for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

Nuffnang is the first Asia Pacific blog advertising community, with more than 200,000 Nuffnang bloggers over these countries, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Australia. It is similar to Google Adsense, except that Nuffnang only run their ads on blogs or websites.

EMBRACING THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA AT THE BLOGAPALOOZA 2013

The social media is around to stay and will considerably be the toughest change in our daily lives. And it’s even revolutionizing how we get in touch, converse, exchange products and services and also receive more career and advertising opportunities for almost everyone (business owners and social media influencers).

Admittedly, the real deal with social media comes from those who share within their network. That includes photo sharing, tweeting, blog followers, readers, subscribers and others that can be tagged in one category.

As social media continues to evolve, the advertising strategy becomes fully trending so marketers use the power of internet connectivity with their sales pitches to attract wide audiences.

Last November 16, 2013, I was one of the hundreds of participants who joined the #blogapalooza event 2013. It’s a yearly event where social media influencers and small business owners meet and have something very cool to share to the online community showcasing some of the newest products or brand to hundreds of influential bloggers and social media influencers.

EMBRACING THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA

I was lucky enough to meet some of the people behind #blogapalooza event organizers including several brands introducing their products and services to the online community. Bloggers and local media partners gathered around for a small talks about blogging and brand awareness.

SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCERS AT BLOGAPALOOZA

Informative discussions from Bogart the Explorer and his partner Jako De Leon together with Mikey Bustos was one of the highlights of the event. They talked about the power of Vlogging or video blogging and how you can stand out and build a good reputation online. On the other hand stand up comedians Tim Tayag, Marlon Olivan and Derf Hebrado of Comedy Cartel got the most attention because of their funny anecdotes. Thanks guys for taking care of the programs entertainment portion.

SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCERS AT THE BLOGAPALOOZA

Other blog related discussions were presented by Philip Abadicio of Philip the Lifestyle Guy who discussed about the importance of bloggers to the media, Jason Cruz of MRM Worldwide on Blogging and Branding, Radio DJ Karen Bordador on Radio and Blogging, Ana Santos of Writer’s Block Philippines shared tips on how an individual can monetize and earn through their blogs and to complete the day, Boy’s Night Out’s Sam Y G, Slick Rick and Tony Toni were also around to talk about podcasting.

Some of the brands I met at the recent #Blogapalooza event:

BLOGAPALOOZA SPONSORS

I truly enjoyed the #blogapalooza event! The event was able to raise Php P82,000.00 for t#Yolandaph victims  and donated to World Vision which was made possible through The Piggy Bank Movement!

Regardless of how you any social media platforms, we can not deny the power it gets. Our daily lives, our bills, how we interact and communicate, how we work, how we learn things will certainly continue to evolve with social media.

See you again folks at the next BLOGAPALOOZA!

GIVE THE GIFT OF GIVING | GIVE SOMETHING THAT MEANS SOMETHING

Christmas is just around the corner. But do you really know what Christmas means?

For many, Christmas is the time to think of Jesus Christ as a baby in a manger. While the birth of Christ is a special and miraculous event, it isn’t the primary focus. The central truth of the Christmas story is this: the Child of Christmas is God.

In the modern world, each of us carries within ourselves a set of rules about the art of giving. Sometimes acknowledged and rarely being talked about.

What do we normally do? How do we give a gift? Give the gifts as they are?

Many believe that the idea of gift exchanges must be of equal value.

If you set the rules that gifts must be of equal value, how do you decide what “value” is?

Full retail price or the actual amount spent?

How will you assess your end of the exchange?

Will you be disappointed if you received a gift that is less “valuable” than that you gave?

I ask you to remember those in need this year by giving something truly meaningful – giving hope to those who are in need.

This holiday season, people are making plans to enjoy the season with their loved ones. But for many, this holiday season will be a very difficult time. Who would forget the standoff in Zamboanga and the wake of typhoon Yolanda which has left many of our brothers and sisters in the province of Visayas leaving them in terrible condition. Less fortunate kids are also having a difficult time enjoying Christmas.

The best gift you can give this Christmas is your compassion and help.

This time of the year, my favorite museum, Museo Pambata joins you in giving our fellow Filipinos a very Merry Christmas.

Here are some simple ways in which you can help bring a smile to someone’s face this season:

GIVE A GIFT OF GIVING

Help decorate a Christmas Tree.

Did you know that when you buy a Christmas ornament will not only decorate a tree but will certainly brighten a child’s face. Proceeds from the ornament sales will help fund our Gift Giving activity, to be held on December 15, 2013. In this event, 1,000 street children will be invited to enjoy a museum tour, a fun-filled program, and go home with bags filled with goodies.

“Christmas Tree of Treats” is an annual fund-raising project by the museum guides. Purchase an ornament when you visit the museum. Each ornament costs around Php 50 – Php100.

Sponsor a child’s gift bag.

During the Gift Giving activity, the children enjoy a fun-filled morning and each invited also child gets to go home with a gift bag with canned goods, sugar, noodles, and the like for his/her family and their Noche Buena.

Your Php 500 can go a long way by sponsoring one gift bag for a child. Contact our Marketing Department (523-1797/98 loc. 2 or 536-0595) for more details.

GIVE A GIFT OF GIVING

Give your old toys a new home.

Children in Zamboanga have been left in difficult living conditions after the standoff. During these difficult times, it is hard for them to go to school and enjoy being a child. Help them reestablish their dreams by giving your old toys a new home.

One can donate new or old but usable toys for children and school supplies for high school students. Drop off your donations at the museum lobby or administrative office.

For more information, contact the Programs Departmen of Museo Pamabata (523-1797/98 loc. 3). This project is done in cooperation with the Philippine Toy Library.

CELEBRATION OF A FILIPINO INGENUITY | GIANT LANTERN FESTIVAL – Got to believe in Magic! That’s what I said to myself while looking at vibrant and colorful giant lanterns light up the whole night in the small city of San Fernando, Pampanga. I traveled from Manila to witness this year’s Giant Lantern Festival. The Lantern from the Barangay Telabastagan won the grand prize, second place was awarded to Barangay Del Pilar while Barangay Sta. Lucia bagged the third spot. The festival is an annual celebration held in San Fernando, now dubbed as the Christmas Capital of the Philippines.

MICROTEL BY WYNDHAM MALL OF ASIA | STAYCATION FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON

Hi readers, I just got back from a colorful giant lantern festival in San Fernando, Pampanga- it was absolutely a memorable experience to remember. Obviously there were no white sandy beaches to see there but knowing the dazzling culture and genuine Kapampangan tradition presented last Saturday it was definitely worth it.

Two weeks ago, I spent my weekend on a rewarding hotel staycation along with my friends at the Microtel Mall of Asia. I was really hesitant at first whether I’ ll join them overnight or just stay at home for the rest of the weekend but part of me thinks that staying with them overnight would be a great opportunity to go away and finding myself again because right now I can’t fully apply myself to career planning while I am dealing with so much stress nowadays.

MICROTEL MOA IMAGE

As it happens every year, the holiday season is moving up and will be upon us before we know it. Now is the time to get a jump on planning for parties and celebrations of all kinds- big or small. At a first glance, I thought I was in Santorini. It was “breathtaking” I muffled. The roof deck area offered us a wonderful ambiance and the mood was fascinating.

One of my favorite spots at the hotel is the roof deck. One will be thrilled to witness the unrestricted views in the area — I am talking about the Manila Bay sunset to the weekly fireworks treats at the mall. Getting to the rooftop area, Microtel has its weekly event for its guests in order to maximize the exposure of the roof deck. Give yourself a break and celebrate your day to a ‘Chill-Out Friday.’

The room given to us was perfect as it faces the Manila bay and the popular MOA Eye. It’s also themed with gorgeous furnitures, two queen sized beds, console table, mini refgirators and a small closet which gives us enough space for us to play hide and seek. My favorite spot in the room is the bay window. Ofcourse para makapagselfie | *wink.

Modern facilities were offered to us. The toilet and bath area at Microtel would not disappoint you. I bet one can expect a relaxing night’s sleep with they’re very own chiropractor-approved beds which can be enjoyed in several room types that can certainly satisfy the needs of their customers. Admittedly, Sagada is the most popular destination which is the toughest to get to. Most of the places in the Philippines would require an individual to ride a plane in addition to a short boat ride but others would require to travel for more than 12-13 straight hours.

PONGAS FALLS PHOTO GALLERY

And this is the reason why my favorite destination in the country is Sagada. Getting to Sagada province ultimately feels like traveling outside of the country.

Getting to Pongas falls is about 45 minutes trek and you’ll be surprised with marvelous and clear water falls. Unfortunately, the slideshow of images that you can see above are the set of images left when my sd card memory and other files were deleted all of a sudden.

Pongas falls is way smaller compared to Bomod-ok falls.  One can certainly enjoy it the same way I did when I was trekking  through slough, bog, and swamp areas that can be challenging but thrilling at the same time.

To know more about Sagada, please read my blog post and click the link below

TOP 15 MOVIES THAT WILL INSPIRE YOU TO QUIT YOUR JOB & EXPLORE THE WORLD | PART 1

Last weekend, I decided I would not do anything not even washing the dishes. Suddenly I found myself craving to be in an extraordinary adventure. Can you imagine yourself playing the main character? I would not be surprised if you find yourself solving mysteries and enjoying the world of fantasy. Did I just say fantasy? Come on we have more reasons to get away for at least a couple of days to even a week agree?

Let me tell you that a perfect movie is something you will never forget until you get older. A great movie that makes you forget you’re sitting in a couch confined inside your room and will take you to a place you have not been to. An excellent movie that can make you jump off your couch and book a cheap holiday.

I asked some of my friends what film they would recommend to inspire a person to go out more. Well the usual choices are up for grabs. The Lord of the rings, The Beach, Slumdog Millionaire and a lot more interesting films, but I wanted to try to go with a little bit of a different list. Everyone knows that these are great movies so here are some of the excellent travel movies that will inspire you to go out, pack up your bags, see the world and be on your way!

Based on a true story, after graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.

If you’re not familiar with this movie , Christopher McCandless was a young man who travelled throughout North America living off the barest of essentials and in most cases, off the land. He was a top student and athlete. Unfortunately, his adventure has its tragic ending as he was found perished in an abandoned Fairbanks City bus on the Stampede Trail in Alaska. His name became famous after Jon Krakaeur wrote an award-winning book about his adventures which eventually became a world-famous movie by Sean Penn.

I have watched Letters to Juliet a little while back. The film is about a romantic and exciting love story. I’m not a big fan of Romeo and Juliet love story and this film is not about the tragic end similar to the actual story by Shakespeare. Needless to say  as long as you constantly search for love then certainly love will always find you.

Ca de Ramos, a travel blogger,  suggests Letters to juliet.

“I’m not really a fan of europe but after watching the film, i wish i had the means to check all the places and activities I’ve seen in this film. The movie is indeed romantic.”

Paula Anntoneth O have always wanted to ride a big ship and Jack’s sense of adventure was really awesome! It came true a decade later which also became the reason why she does what she’s currently doing today!

Titanic is a 1997 American epic romance and disaster film directed, written, co-produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. A fictionalized account of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, it stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson and Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater, members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the ship during its ill-fated maiden voyage. Although the central roles and love story are fictitious, some characters are based on genuine historical figures. Gloria Stuart portrays the elderly Rose, who narrates the film in a modern-day framing device, and Billy Zane plays Cal Hockley, the overbearing fiancé of the younger Rose.

For Mich Borlagdan, The Art of Travel is her personal favorite.

It doesn’t just treat the viewers a cup full of beautiful places but it would literally wake one up from her craziness in love and life– “the art of travel is deviate from one’s plans”

The Art of Travel – The film stars Christopher Masterson, Johnny Messner, and Brooke Burns.

The decisions you make will change your life.

Ian Dela Peña likes The Motorcycle Diaries.

It shows us that travelling can open our eyes to what is really happening to the world, it can educate us with experience as our teacher and make us wiser enabling us to make our own decisions.

The Motorcycle Diaries is a 2004 biopic about the journey and written memoir of the 23-year-old Ernesto Guevara, who would several years later become internationally known as the iconic Marxist guerrilla commander and revolutionary Che Guevara.  It is a visit to the ancient Incan ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru that solidifies something in Guevara. His musings refocused to how an indigenous civilization capable of building such beauty could be destroyed by the creators of the eventual polluted urban decay of nearby Lima.

Now I want to go to Peru.

When it comes to local movies naman for Ian, so far most StarCinema movies inspire him.

Well kidding aside lets take a look at Erich Gonzales and Mario Maurer’s “Suddenly its Magic” will make one go to Ilocos and Thailand!

Edcel Suyo recommends Catch Me if You Can – Gusto kasi nya ng hinahabol siya…

Based on a true story, Frank W. Abagnale was employed as a doctor, a lawyer, and as a co-pilot for a major airline company-all before reaching his 21st birthday. A successful con artist and master of deception, Frank is also a brilliant forger, whose skill at check fraud has netted him millions of dollars in stolen funds–much to the chagrin of the authorities. FBI Agent Carl Hanratty has made it his prime mission to capture him and bring him to justice, however Frank is always one step ahead of Carl, baiting him to continue the chase.

The thought of being anything you want to be regardless of your background and going wherever you can despite various challenges, is what thrills me. Either this movie inspired me to travel, or that the movie is just that interesting.

Mhe-anne Ojeda loves Mission Impossible 1 in 1996 starring Tom Cruise.

I love Tom Cruise and have watched all his movies, but it was M.I that got me hooked on travelling to all the places Ethan Hunt as IMF/CIA agent had been like US, London,Paris, Prague. Being a working student taking up law and who make ends meet, I made it my own mission impossible at that time to visit those places. In 2000, just in time for the second sequel of Mission Impossible, I traveled to the United States 13 states in August 2000, then followed by series of travels to at least 30 countries around the world and 28 US States!

AUSTRALIA is an epic and romantic action adventure, set in that country on the explosive brink of World War II. In it, an English aristocrat (Kidman) travels to the faraway continent, where she meets a rough-hewn local (Jackman) and reluctantly agrees to join forces with him to save the land she inherited. Together, they embark upon a transforming journey across hundreds of miles of the world’s most beautiful yet unforgiving terrain, only to still face the bombing of the city of Darwin by the Japanese forces that attacked Pearl Harbor.

The English Patient is a 1996 romantic drama film based on the novel of the same name by Sri Lankan-Canadian writer Michael Ondaatje. The film, written for the screen and directed by Anthony Minghella, won nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Ondaatje worked closely with the filmmakers.

Set before and during World War II, Hana, a French-Canadian nurse in an abandoned Italian monastery looks after a critically burned man who speaks English but is reluctant to disclose any personal information.

David Caravaggio, a Canadian intelligence operative and former thief, arrives at the monastery with completely wrapped hands and an acute interest in the nurse’s morphine and the English patient’s past.

Schindler’s list | Oskar Schindler is a vain, glorious and greedy German business person who becomes unlikely humanitarian amid the barbaric Nazi reign when he feels compelled to turn his factory into a refuge for Jews. Based on the true story of Oskar Schindler who managed to save about 1100 Jews from being gassed at the Auschwitz concentration camp. A testament for the good in all of us.

The Killing Fields | Sydney Schanberg, a correspondent for the New York Times, covered the invasion of Cambodia with the help of Dith Pran, a local journalist and translator. When the country fell to the communist Khmer Rouge, the lives of all foreigners were immediately at risk, and Schanberg got out along with most of his fellow Western correspondents. He offered Pran a chance to leave with him, but Pran chose to stay.

History comes alive in the unforgettable epic picture PEARL HARBOR, the spectacular blockbuster brought to the screen by Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay.

It was on an early Sunday morning in paradise when warplanes screamed across the peaceful skies of Pearl Harbor and jolted America into World War II. This real-life tale of catastrophic defeat, heroic victory, and personal courage focuses on the war’s devastating impact on two daring young pilots, Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett, and a beautiful, dedicated nurse, Kate Beckinsale. PEARL HARBOR is extraordinary moviemaking — a spectacular reenactment and a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who lived it.

Wong Kar Wai’s classic film “In the Mood For Love” is a cinematic masterpiece set in 1960′s Hong Kong. What’s great about this film is that both the setting and the premise worked hand in hand to tell an unforgettable story of love sprung from an impossible relationship. It’s like a moving painting – where stills of narrow walkways, silent expressions from the characters and dark shadows of local color effect all leave a lasting impression from anyone who has seen it. It’s tragic, it’s heartfelt, it’s emotional – one can never sum up the many different facets of love.

As a writer by profession and traveler by passion, Jerik de Guzman “In the Mood For Love” surely fueled his mission to gather stories set in different locations and bring them to life through his blog.

The last scene, where Chow Mo-wan (Tony Leung) whispered in a hollow at the Angkor Wat before covering it with mud and leaving the place at dusk inspired him to do the same in Siem Rep, Cambodia. Indeed he has lots of stories to tell.

I’d like to be honest sometimes our work routine gets a little boring and the good thing about these movies somehow it gives us the chance to escape. Most likely we’ll be compelled to take on an adventure around the world. Soul searching? Follow what your heart tells you and please be reminded that these movies might just work and inspire you to travel the globe. If you think there are other interesting films you can recommend please leave your comments below. I would love to hear your suggestions.

[DEAR LOVE] SAYING GOODBYE CAN BE ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS TO DO

$

True love knows no pain.

No boundaries.

Even if you have been stabbed multiple times.

You can still survive.

SAYING GOODBYE IS THE HARDEST THING TO DO

You see, hearts are broken every single day.

And in case you have not noticed,

The world has already stopped caring.

You can fight hard I know.

You can move on and strive to to remain in the surface.

After all, the world loves fairy tales.

The world recognizes stories of unassuming protagonist fighting in a battle

Luckily some of them may have won because of luck.

But realistically,  not every prince charming falls in love with a maid.

And not all fairy tales have a happy endings.

Fight hard.

Fight smart.

Save your energy so you can have a better chance of survival.

SAYING GOODBYE IS THE HARDEST THING TO DO

Not all brave men won the battle.

You have never heard of them.

Because the world does not pay attention tho those who simply tried but never made it.

Losing by default is not the same  as dying for a worthless cause.

It’s either you lose your self.

Your pride.

Your life.

SAYING GOODBYE IS THE HARDEST THING TO

Dying is the natural consequence of life.

Everything in this world is amazing.

But then, if it must die,  drown it not with a bucket full of snow.

For it will only give you the greatest shock of your life.

Don’t even try to extinguish it with your own breath,

For a fire has its natural tendency to fight back when its existence is being attacked.

If it really must die, give it the dignity it deserves.

Let it die a natural death.

Just let it die like a sunset.

Slowly.

Peacefully.

Beautifully.

SAYING GOODBYE IS THE HARDEST THING TO DO

Meeting and falling in love on the road? Yeah I’m well aware of this lifestyle I have and I know how difficult it can be but trust me when I say, that the reward is actually worth it. We all laugh and cry. We love, lose and grieve but we still stand up and learn. Traveling is the greatest way for us to meet friends and experience a different kind of life and perhaps even falling in love on the road. Some of us cross paths for only one moment. But their memories, their influence on us and love for these people will last for the rest of our lives. Saying good bye is indeed one of the hardest things to do.

This is an entry to Pinoy Travel Bloggers’ Blog Carnival themed “THE JOYS AND WOES OF COUPLEHOOD ON THE ROAD”.

Located on the Southeastern tip of Cebu is a 24 hectare coral island boasting with pristine white sand beaches . Its magnificent natural lagoon is just one of the best attractions as well as the sandbar which changes its shape and shifting locations depending on the season. SUMILON BLUEWATER ISLAND RESORT | UNFORGETTABLE SUMMER & UNCOMPROMISING LUXURY

This summer, my thoughts always turns to a little bit of fashion. Believe me, I am not going to turn this travel blog into a pseudo fashion blog. I am not the best person to talk about wearing a skimpy outfits, wearing thongs or bikini briefs this summer. But seriously I am falling into fashion recently.

Beautiful weather creates a more relaxed feeling  which also gives us  the liberty to use our imagination about dress codes that lean towards genuine comfort and summer ambiance.  Of course, I am not just talking about fashion because I have lots of travel advices this time because this year opens new destinations for me, new opportunities and new friends and new love? That must be a tricky idea. Hahaha.

Last week I embarked on a trip in an island off the South Eastern Coast of Cebu. I was told it was romantic there and it has a magic on its own hence it is even more beautiful when you share it with everyone you really love. The gentle breeze and the water peacefully lapping at your own feet and the sun kissed sand has been disturbed only by you. They say its famous for their exclusive seclusion and simple beauty, all gorgeous ingredients to make your holiday unforgettable.  And for our getaway? We were already in that beautiful place at that moment. Whether swimming with the whale sharks around Oslob, or swinging in your hammock on the verandah of your special villa, ROMANCE is absolute.

Locals say the island was named from being a storm shelter for locals and fishermen, where they can protect themselves – sumilong - from rain and thunder storms.

And a chance encounter came true last week, together with two of my beautiful friends.

BLUEWATER SUMILON ISLAND RESORT

Here is a glimpse of our #SUMMER SOLSTICE at The Bluewater Sumilon Island

Arriving at the Dumaguete Airport at exactly 2:45 I immediately took a passenger tricycle that will bring me to Sibulan port (travel time less than 10 minutes | Php150). Then from Sibulan port to Liloan port (ferry at Php50 and pump boat at Php35) I chose the pump boat because I had no choice, the ferry was scheduled to sail an hour later. Kuya Raul, our driver at Bluewater Sumilon was waiting for me at the Liloan port.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

My 30 minute incredible boat ride journey began from the moment the boat started sailing. I hate to say this but I was not mentally and physically  prepared to ride the wave and navigate the treacherous tides surrounding the island. We were only less than 15 passengers in a small pump boat and yet I was so thrilled and amazed to be able to share the beautiful moments of getting there with you folks. I am still ecstatic believe me. Riding the wave was so surreal I’d imagined it to be and more. Sure I need to think about the next challenge.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

I was at the Liloan port at last where Kuya Raul waited for a couple of minutes. The white van was waiting for us there to take us to my home away from home. The drive down to the Bluewater Sumilon was an experience in itself and to me even I was obviously tired it was everything I had imagined it to be. The scary boat ride out to the wave was perfect.  Everything about the Sumilon trip was fantastic and I just knew it was going to be an unforgettable weekend getaway.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

The small banca (motorized boat) picks you up at the Puerto Sumilon port.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

A nice and comfortable 15-minute boat ride takes you to the private island.

Pampering ourselves is just part of our plan. Imagine yourself sleeping comfortably in heavenly bed. Be sure to schedule an indulgences at their in-house spa. I could not wait to lounge around Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort’s outdoor infinity pool and enjoy the best of Sumilon.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

The sun was about to fade and my body wanted a comfortable bed, but in a dreamy place like  Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort, I was eager to maximize my time thinking about productivity. Room 16 where B and M waited for me and the room was kind of like messed up a little bit as if I did not have a clue [ they're done shooting every corners of our room] . Our room is just one of the 14 spacious Deluxe rooms with private verandah. OMG. It was not easy to forget that soon I was going to leave this place.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

It was our first night at Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort. We found ourselves at the Island Pavilion which houses the resort restaurant serving various dishes both local and international cuisine. The Pavilion house is a high octagonal nipa and an open air construction giving us the feel of island living. It boasts a magnificent panoramic view of the sea and the mainland Cebu.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

And because it was Friday night we thought drinking a couple of beers at night would encourage us to wake up the next morning. ”I think all of us know we were a little drunk last night.” except for B who was busy with work all the time. Kudos to you my friend!

DAY 2

Almost 9′oclock we headed back to the Pavilion house for hearty breakfast. We’ve all got highs and lows throughout the whole day—a boost of …  protein-rich breakfast.

BLUWATER SUMILON

The Sumilon sandbar is highly noted for its changing and shifting patterns depending on the time of year. This spot right here is my personal favorite part of the island is the shifting White Sand Bar Beach where you can swim, snorkel and have a picnic with your special someone.

The highlight of our second day was the whale shark interaction. During whale shark interactions, you will go out on a small boat with assigned guide.  Whale sharks are wild so are never guaranteed, but trust me in Oslob is as guaranteed as you are going to get!

WHALESHARK OSLOB BLUEWATER SUMILON

The sightings of whales in Oslob is way different than in Donsol, Sorsogon. Unlike in Donsol, local fishermen have been retrained as guides and spotters and will find you whale sharks. The moment whale sharks are spotted, you must be ready yourself with mask, snorkel and fins then the boat will reposition itself so you have time to jump in the water before the shark reaches you. In Oslob, it was entirely different.

BLUEWATER SUMILON WHALESHARK INTERACTIONWe arrived at Tan-awan in Oslob headed to the orientation lobby which is necessary for tourists like us. The code of conducts during the  whale sharks interaction in Cebu.

A number of tourists were already at the area and only a few meters away from the shore, we could already see the visibility of whale sharks appearing one by one. The Whale Sharks swim from surface to mid-water and with their size, they are surely hard to miss.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

These whale shark sightings in Oslob have been around for quite awhile. I was told these gentle giants used to be their problem which causes trouble and damage to their livelihood. There’s about 6-8 of them in their area and watching them swimming around is incredible. It feels ultimately surreal to witness the bond between these gentle creatures and the fishermen which was too obvious with the way they build connections with each other. It was an unforgettable experience and I’m thrilled to have done it this year.

BLUEWATER SUMILON AND WHALESHARKS INTERACTION

Today, local officials are working on implementing policies to protect these whale sharks as it is seriously gaining more popularity both local and abroad. Now a major destination in Cebu with all the media attention it’s getting.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

After 30 minutes of whale shark interaction the group is now ready for the whole day of sun bathing. Who would not want to spoil themselves in a whole day with special activity like swimming in the turquoise waters and relaxing with your favorite book in shaded sunbeds.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

Sometimes, when you are in an island, whatever you do becomes a perfect luxury.

BLUEWATER SUMILON
Explore the charm of the island living at Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort, offering the most exclusive spot at the beach. Spend the whole day in the first row of sunbeds fronting the sea – just  footsteps away from pristine water.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

There’s an entirely different world out there. Seems a little different than my world. I started imagining this whole different world. Morning, noon and night time I still think of you. For a moment, I just thought I was living in a dream. The sun. The sand and the beach. Beautiful. Sunny. Unique and welcoming Sumilon.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

An inviting infinity pool overlooking Oslob welcomes you to take the plunge…

BLUEWATER SUMILON

Bubble bath in swimming pool? I was thinking about filling the pool with bubbles. Might be a crazy and stupid idea. Hahaha.

BLUEWATER SUMILON
Food at the Bluewater Sumilon Island resort are divine! For additional pleasure find your perfect spot around the outdoor swimming pool which is open daily. Hide from the sun in their gazebos with your pig out food, cocktail and favorite internet-device using all benefits of Wi-Fi network, or relax under the sunlight for the final touch on your perfect tan. I achieved my perfect golden tan of course.

BLUEWATER SUMILON LAGOON

A lagoon with thick forest mangroves, a lighthouse of historical significance, enchanting caves, a pristine lake and some of the country’s best diving points are among the island’s several places of interest.

BALUARTE BLUEWATER SUMILON RESORT

Activities include bird watching, beach picnics with the family, fishing, hiking, island tours, paddling and trekking. The Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort, the only resort in the island, provides world class comfort and accommodations for tourists.

BLUEWATER SUMILON ISLAND RESORT

A big part of the Sumilon island is still waiting to be developed. Another interesting activity would be a nice and sweet 40-60 minute trek around the lush forest and cliff-side views of the private island.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

Explore the walking trail. The walking trail deserves a separate blog post which is coming very soon because the trail is just way too extra-ordinary for me.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

When you’re up there, you get to appreciate a panoramic view of the natural lagoon and the white beach. This little island has its special character on its own- there’s no Starbucks, no malls, no Mcdonalds. So stunning! This is absolutely an incomparably romantic setting for your sweet summer adventure.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

Take time for yourselves to savor those intimates with nature. Snorkel with the exotic under the sea creature and wildlife with your special someone. Discover the best of an island. I am talking about an endless activities to explore. No stress. No pressure. Nothing to do but indulge your impulse.

BLUEWATER SUMILON ISLAND RESORT

Glamping is a luxury form of camping which also available in their package. A glamp discovery package which is ideal for small families and couples an overnight glamping tent accommodation for two adults and one child. Meanwhile Glamp Excursion package is ideal for larger groups good for wildlife interest groups such as scuba divers and outdoor enthusiasts. On the other hand glamp nature combo package is ideal for guests who dig a resort style accommodation glamping. This is good for families whose parents want to stay in a resort room and provide their kids with a unique outdoor experience.

BLUEWATER SUMILON

If exploring the island is your idea of a perfect getaway, then Bluewater Sumilon Island resort is your ultimate playground this summer. Enjoy the island life like we did.

Because we love Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort, we had to extend an additional night. Inuman na!
