It takes less than five minutes to milk a goat using modern automated milking machines. Some of us even tried to milk these goats. Goat’s milk is believed to be next to mother’s milk in terms of nutritional value. It is less allergenic and has high percentage of calcium and protein. We tried almost everything including pastillas, kesong puti, milk and chocolate drinks.

I could not imagine a Kart Track can be found in the heart of Tarlac. Seriously! As expected the experience was worth it. I did not have plans of racing in the circuit of Kart City until I tried. I got so hooked with it that I asked for one more try from their staff.  The rate is relatively cheap and I bet you’ll love the place too. I am not the best person to talk to about karting, but their track is an entertainment type of Karting. Perhaps you can drop-by this summer. So after those adrenaline rush, make sure you try their signature chicken barbecue and their best seller pizza. Better explore something up north, Tarlac City. Kart City in Tarlac Racing Circuit is just right in front of SM City Tarlac and opens from 3pm – 12mn.

LOST AT THE BEACH

People walk into our lives, stay for a while, making everything alright and suddenly they walk out and turn their back on you. They say goodbye leaving the terrain of our souls in a state of emptiness promising that they will come back. I am reminded of how my father left us when I was 5. Sometimes we ignore this feeling but realistically, the depth of our loss is practically unimaginable. Drowning into an endless abyss of loneliness.

When I was in college, I never had regular friends. Perhaps I thought they would still leave me anyway or I just could not find anyone to connect with.  Probably it’s a lot better to be alone and just be yourself than to be with someone just to fit in and have people around you. It was in our school  library and a book store that I found my first set of friends Jon Krakauer, Bill Bryson, Peter Mayle and a lot more. At that time, I was convinced that I was born to be a nomad.

Through the years I have been so lost. I did not go out  that much and I spent a lot of time in my room until one day I realized that there are more than enough beautiful things to wander at that there is no room to complain beside living life is fun.

A chance encounter maybe exactly what I was looking for…

LIFE CHANGING TRAVEL STORY

The sun is blinding yet I stayed up again. We took a 30 foot fishing boat anchoring us to Calaguas Islands, off the coast of Daet, Camarines Norte. I have situated myself closest to the bow as it is the best angle to shoot the island as we came closer. Our boat was revving up a little bit only to find out that we’re running at a normal speed. Arriving at the shallow waters of Mahabang Buhangin, the most photographed spot of Calaguas Islands, feels like a breath of fresh air.

CALAGUAS ISLAND

It was gorgeous, clear, aquamarine waters and powdered blue skies combined with a stretch of green lands in the skyline. I immediately plunged into the water to swim and play like an innocent child. I then followed a group of kids walking towards the green shrubs near the beach.

CALAGUAS ISLAND

I met Lori, 12, was dressed in dark colors. He was wearing black shirt and red shorts. He looked as though almost faded into the shadow if not his smile. He came up to me while I was doing a self-realization and contemplation routine. That side of the beach has a fossilized dunes which allows visitors to rediscover and contemplate the uniquely crystal clear water among the stones.  He approached me with his innocent smile and said “Mukhang naliligaw po kayo sir!” [looks like you're lost sir]. These kids joined me as I explored the other side of the beach.

INSPIRING TRAVEL STORY

“Dito ako naglalagi pag malungkot po ako” [ I stay here when I'm sad] He whispered. It was kind of like strange yet so powerful. I always imagined that my life would be so much like Lori. Gloomy yet he’s shining bright at the same time.

CALAGUAS INSPIRING TRAVEL STORY

Admittedly these kids who, despite having nothing in this world, would simply brighten up your day with their smile and innocence. It was distressing though to learn some of their interesting stories, several of them had to work so hard for their families at an early age. Some had lost their parents, brothers, sisters and others had left by their mother or father. I  can imagine at such young ages they had to bear the hardship and pain without complaining.

CALAGUAS INSPIRING TRAVEL STORY

I can sense from their eyes they wanted to stay there just to have fun and play just like all the normal kids do. They just simply wanted to be children for a moment. So many had high hopes and aspirations of becoming a teacher or a doctor someday.

CALAGUAS INSPIRING TRAVEL STORY

On our way home, I imagined about what would they look like when they grow up and where would they be in five or ten years? What kind of people would they become? I felt so weak that their chances of having their dreams achieved were so slim. I was watching the scene while they were sailing away and just hoping for the best in their lives.

We laugh, grieve and cry but still stand up and learn from our experiences. Traveling is the greatest way for us to know ourselves to meet friends and experience a different kind of life on the road. Some of us may cross paths for only one moment. But their influence on us and love for these people will certainly last a lifetime.

Do you ever feel like you have gotten lost in life? Surely there are really times when you stop for a while- trying to find who you are and what you really want in life. I have been down but certainly blessed at all times in my life. Most of the time I am always on the look out for cheap flights and airline tickets just to get away, pack my bags and explore things in new places. It feels ultimately great when you don’t worry about tomorrow – no limits. I guess it’s time to find and discover yourself  when you’re lost.

It was an invitation I could never pass up despite the shortage of my travel funds.

It’s no surprise that I ended up in the Western Visayas particularly in the province of Antique for almost a week with a small backpack containing a pair of shoes, a couple of shirts, short pants and underwear. Thanks to the influence of my grandmother who always encourage me to pack smart and travel light.  I used to be the kid who didn’t really think about history but I’d like to observe most of the time. And if I had an opportunity to ask people questions? I would definitely ask a whole lot. And the person who always entertained my questions the most was my grandmother. After everyone else had gone to bed, my great grandmother, who didn’t sleep a lot in her old age. We would always sit beside each other and discuss our lives together. I was fascinated with my grandmother’s Antiqueno-ness [if there is such a term]. The Kinaray-a accent, the local food, the drive with which she always possessed. I feel no shame to tell you that I’m thirsty in finding my roots in the province of Antique.

EXPERIENCE ANTIQUE

A visit to the province of Antique is about rediscovering several unique indigenous practices and spectacular landmarks. The province of Antique may seem so old fashioned and simple but for travelers who are hungry to discover what’s in it for them the place then becomes a destination loaded with never ending adventures and the fun is waiting to be rediscovered.

San Juan Nepomuceno Parish Antique province

Antique province is located in the western part of the island and is accessible via Iloilo, Roxas and Aklan airports. The familiarization tour started in Anini-y with a short visit to the therapeutic Hot Springs of Sira-an. Then it was followed by a brief tour of the 383-year old fascinating church which was built by the early Augustinian Missionaries and has been a structure of faith among the Antiqueños. The church looks stunning in its baroque architecture and made up of coral and limestone foundations. The 115- year old bell tower had survived hundreds of calamities including the 8.2 magnitude and intensity 9 Lady Caycay Earthquake that struck Panay in 1948. Today, the church remains strong and powerful similar to the faith of the Antiqueños, and constantly serves as a venue for the faithful.

This extra-ordinary experience is called “Lambaklad Fishing” – a Filipino term that is coming from a word “lambat” (net) and “baklad” (corral), or “lambat-baklad” or “lambaklad,” [ a large fish trap ]. Our fresh catch was then prepared for a traditional Antiqueño breakfast by the sea.

In addition, locals have mastered the brickmaking trade—by making the traditional  bricks by hand. The quaint town of Laua-an was also visited by our group. Laua-an is certainly the place to visit for a hand-made bamboo crafts and the sweetest muscovado. luckily, all of us got to experience how bandi and butong-butong are cooked and prepared. In Laua-an, they use peanuts, muscovado sugar melted in a kawa (large pan) adding it with calamansi. For preparation, it has to cool down in banana leaves then has to be stretched until it becomes hard and solid. Laua-an is also a good jump-off point to explore the Central Panay ranges including Mt. Reaching the Bugtong-bato falls is a breath of fresh air. Once tourists reach the top of the mountain, one can really appreciate the scenery. Bugtong-bato is just one of the 17 waterfalls in Tibiao and stands at 33 meters in height which boasts tons of charm and character on its own. Bugtong-bato has its natural pool formed by its cascading waters. This waterfalls is an attraction that visitors should not miss.

explore antique province

For the extreme adventure seekers,  the second and third level can be accessed however I find it too dangerous as the steps are stiff and one must grip a rope to climb the highest part. Perhaps I am more concerned about my camera and gadgets plus the fact that I am afraid of heights too. Bugtong-bato Falls can not be compared to other waterfalls I visited in the country but to sum it up Bugtong-bato falls looks incredible to me.

KAWA HOT BATH TIBIAO ANTIQUE

This is absolutely one of our favorite activities so far which is the kawa hot bath. After plunging in the freezing waters of Bugtong-bato falls, everyone’s on the look out for the availability of kawa. Kawa is a large pan or pot they use for their Kawa Hot Bath. Funny because instead of the conventional bath tub, this kawa [used for cooking muscovado sugar] is filled with spring water heated until it becomes luke-warm, garnished with aromatic herbal leaves [guyabano and guava] and boiled by woods and dried coconut leaves. This activity gives a tourist a total relaxation and therapeutic benefits to the body. I felt so good that my cramped muscles and tendons loosen up really fast.

KAWA HOT BATH ANTIQUE PROVINCE

One meal of tender-cooked stew of ‘hottie and meaty ‘ flesh coming. Lol! Treat yourselves with a relaxing Kawa Hot Bath after the exhausting trek. An excellent relaxation before heading to Tibiao River for white river kayaking.

White River Kayaking in Tibiao River

EXPERIENCE ANTIQUE

The real adventure is waiting for the bold and daring thrill seekers. White water kayaking in Tibiao river is a premiere activity for individuals looking for a different kind of high. Feed your adrenaline with this new kind of experience. The struggle against the water and the clash to get through the rapids which will leave an unforgettable memory to any adventure seekers. White water kayaking lets you imagine yourselves in an outdoor film.

WHITE WATER KAYAKING TIBIAO ANTIQUE

Although white water kayaking is not easy one must conquer their own fear. Trying to balance yourself while swaying back in forth alone is just totally a mind blowing experience. The sudden slopes as the canoe is smashed by flashing tides in all sides keeps an individual’s adrenaline rush to its maximum.

ECO ADVENTURE IN TIBIAO, ANTIQUE

The excitement continues after being hit by an agitated waves. The thrill there is when splashes of water continue to slap your face from both sides  and then being thrown off and experiencing a wash out is extremely an ecstatic experience. Safety is definitely ensured by our guides for the total satisfaction of the whole kayaking experience.

EXPLORE ANTIQUE

I intend to see you again Antique Province, the scenic land where mountains meet the sea.

I am saying goodbye to blogging. It feels so good when to stop …
But I will certainly be back soon.

PORT BARTON

There will still be quite a few scheduled posts during this down time, and I’ll be monitoring every single email if you want to talk to me about anything. And of course, people who are interested to fly me or take me somewhere please feel free to contact me.

PORT BARTON PHOTO

I may lose followers, readers and my online rating may drastically fall but that’s okay. That’s life. While I love this online fame which has been part of my life I swear it’s really hard to walk away, I need to step back for a little time to focus on my family, and get myself back to a place where I can think properly again. I’ll be back like the highest mountain on a sunny day, fresh with my face enjoying the heat of the summer sunshine.

CITY STATE ASTURIAS HOTEL PALAWAN – GIVING NEW MEANING TO ISLAND LIVING

Puerto Princesa welcomes more visitors this summer and it doesn’t really take long to determine why. Puerto Princesa in Palawan is a city of extremes pack with action on every corner. Food is extremely a highlight in addition to Subterranean River (or Underground River), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, from local flavors served along the busy highways to delightful cuisine at romantic restaurants.

Citystate Asturias Hotel Palawan

The CITY STATE ASTURIAS Hotel was our home sweet home last March and is located a bit south but close enough to major tourist landmarks and attractions. Its only few minutes away from the restaurants and a short walk away from the Robinsons Malls – which was a big factor.I am talking about proximity to local markets and malls.

Citystate Asturias Hotel Palawan | Puerto Princesa, Palawan

Upon arrival, the staff were all courteous and friendly. The hotel has a comfortable lobby. Rooms were just fine – cozy, clean and relaxing ambiance.  What I enjoyed the most is a very pretty inner courtyard with big swimming pool, large palm trees and native vegetation. The pool is gorgeous, a perfect depth and such a stunner for lounging in when the hotel is quiet in the morning.

Citystate Asturias Hotel Palawan

The dining area is close to the lobby. The morning and evening buffets are quite good with excellent service. So in addition to the desk staff, the rest of the hotel staff have the typical courteousness, friendliness and helpfulness which is what I enjoyed the most.

[PORT BARTON IS A LITTLE PIECE OF PARADISE] AUSAN BEACH FRONT COTTAGES

Getting to Port Barton in San Vicente, Palawan is an adventure in itself. The roads are all dirt path and the strong tides of Filipino life move on immensely undisturbed by the small group of wanderers hanging around in the handful of budget beach cottages and hotels. The Port Barton is located on the northwest coast of Palawan which is  roughly halfway in between El Nido and Puerto Princesa. One needs to hop on a bus, boat, minivan, jeepney to get to the far less developed  destination called Port Barton.

The quaint Port Barton beach itself is a stunning strip of fine white sand and great for a quick swim. There are roughly over ten pristine white sand islands, a number of top-notch dive and snorkelling sites and even a couple of waterfalls which I am about to explore very soon. Please be aware though that electricity is usually available between the hours of 10 A.M. and midnight.

This amazing sleepy beach town is situated a bit off the beaten track, which makes getting there all the more thrilling and exciting.

Ausan’s Beach Front Cottages

My very first trip to Port Barton in San Vicente, Palawan perhaps was the reason why I was more thrilled to explore the islands of Palawan. The idea of destination less traveled got me really excited. My arrival at the Port Barton was welcomed by our host and the Owner Sir Boel Baylon who I eventually applauded for his love about his own town and the story of his humble beginnings. His story and the rest of all the things you need to know about Port Barton surely deserve a separate recognition.

PORT BARTON AUSAN BEACHES

Ausan’s Beach Front Cottages  used to be Ausan’s Cottages had only two cottages and one duplex area. Today, with the demand of visitors, slowly but surely, Ausan’s Beach Front Cottages fulfilled their promise to give guests more options to choose rooms suitable for their budget both for local and foreign guests. Ausan’s Beach Front Cottages has a renovated beach front cottages added a superior rooms with selected air-conditioned with TV Satellite. A native concrete design bar and restaurant which boasts Western, European, Oriental and Filipino cuisines, and various cocktails and cold beers and juices will soon be available for guests. FREE WiFi, 24 hours hot shower on selected cottages and rooms, online booking system for accommodation, boat and private van transfer, tour packages, activities and resort amenities are also included in their services.

Ausan’s Beach Front Cottages

Ausan’s Beach Front Cottages is absolutely a very well conceptualized and a laid out beach resort. All areas I passed through led me into yet another surprising areas that were more thrilling than the first. I looked at the surroundings before me and I immediately fell in love with what greeted me.

AUSAN BEACHFRONT PORT BARTON

The soon to be finished Villa [good for big groups] is a haven of calm, serenity and surprisingly covered with ornamental garden which even has a moderate fragrance which attracts colorful butterflies. The villa which is about to be finished very soon has a stunning vista with an artful decoration of a beautiful garden and under the sea ornaments.

ausan beach front port barton

Listening to the crashing waves feels like a breath of fresh air. I owned and took comfort in my room listening to sound of nature. Ausan’s Beach Cottages offers modern amenities which included a comfortable pillows and the highlight was their hot and cold shower. I’m not gonna tell you why, not yet. Their outdoor shower is very interesting too as it’s surrounded by local plants, shrubs and pebbled borders.

Ausan’s Beach Front Cottages is the only resorts in Port Barton has 17 hours electricity from 7am – 6pm (Resort Generator) and 6pm – 12 midnight (Public Electricity).

port barton images

In the evenings, dinner at Bamboo house, Jambalaya and Eldorado offered a pleasant surprises, trying out local and international flavors while being serenaded by the crashing waves with the twinkling of the stars reflecting the sea. The striking moment for me there was enjoying the hammock at the beach while I sipped my local coconut juice and watching the sun saying goodbye for the day, brightening the sky in brilliant hues of cerulean blue. Then I would imagine myself  looking at those dark blue clouds wrapped in a gorgeous moon halo. It’s really beautiful. Then the night becomes nostalgic. When I look at the sky, everything is illuminated by the aura of nostalgia.

port barton images

Port Barton was a new destination for me. For first timer like me, I appreciate the local culture, hospitality and their warmth. Unspoiled beyond words. Port Barton in general is overwhelmingly a piece of paradise and the environment here boosts the extra-ordinary experience with their extremely impressive settings and outstanding hospitality.

Searching for sparkling white sands, aquamarine waters or fine diving spots, Port Barton‘s tropical paradise has something for everyone to enjoy this summer. Escape to the secret paradise and spend your summer adventure in the far less developed  destination called Port Barton.

WHITE REEF

Port Barton is way smaller than El Nido and a more laid back village. There are several beautiful places like the White Reef in Port Barton. The Island is one of the more remote Islands in Palawan, so it’s the right place for a family, friends or a couple to go to unwind, unplug, relax, and reconnect with nature.

Twin reef port barton palawan

The unspoiled white beach of Port Barton boasts a great marine diversity. Twin Reef is  approximately 20 minutes from Port Barton, one of the most popular snorkel areas in the Island.

PORT BARTON ISLAND HOPPING

Exotic Island has a spectacular white sand beach and also perfect for beach bumming. An uninhabited island which is a gorgeous place for a swim and for having lunch on the beach. Next time you visit this island, give yourself a break and enjoy your meal cooked over a fire at ‘Exotic Island’.

PORT BARTON ISLAND HOPPING

I have no idea why they called it The German Island. Nevertheless, it’s one of the most popular islands closer to Port Barton. I felt kind of like a total stranger because the islands are saturated with foreign guests and is obviously gaining wider popularity as the hottest island among foreign tourists.

The amazing sleepy beach town of Port Barton is situated a bit off the beaten path, which makes getting there all the more thrilling and exciting.Port Barton which is absolutely a new destination for me, surprisingly a piece of secret paradise and the environment here boosts the stunning experience with an extremely impressive settings and remarkable hospitality.

SMART TRAVEL TIPS | GETTING IN AND OUT OF NAIA TERMINAL 3 ON A TIGHT BUDGET

$
0
0

NAIA or Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 is located close the the main Commercial Business Districts of Manila. I usually take a cab for convenience but it is really possible to get in and out of NAIA Terminal 3 on a tight budget. The bus or mini bus that serves as NAIA shuttle from Taft Avenue in Pasay Rotunda to NAIA Terminal 3 is still operational. I tried it myself two weeks ago when my flight from Cebu to Manila got delayed for 3 hours. I arrived at 1o in the evening I saw people falling in line to the bus bound for Pasay Taft Rotunda where one can ride a train to nearby location of Metro Manila.

from NAIA Terminal 3 to Taft MRT

Meanwhile passengers using private cars can use these routes below to reach NAIA Terminal 3:

From North Metro Manila
Take EDSA towards Pasay City. Past the Magallanes interchange, take the left lane of EDSA into the Tramo flyover. Head straight after clearing the flyover, and turn left at the end of the road. Continue down the road; take the first exit out of the Rotunda monument and on to the terminal entrance.

From South Metro Manila
Take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) or Skyway towards Manila, and take the Villamor exit ramp. Continue down the road past Terminal 3 and the Resorts World complex and onto the Rotunda monument. Continue around the rotunda and on to the terminal entrance.

From West Manila
Motorists may turn onto MIA Road at the junction of Coastal Road and Roxas Boulevard. Turn left at the intersection with Park-N-Fly and proceed to take the first exit of the rotunda at the end of the road. Continue down the road; take the first exit out of the Rotunda monument and on to the terminal entrance.

GETTING IN AND OUT OF NAIA TERMINAL 3

Via Public Transportation

From the EDSA-Taft station.  An airport shuttle terminal is located beside the MRT station near or at the back of SOGO hotel.

For passengers from Taft to Terminal 3: The bus no longer takes airport bound passengers inside NAIA-3 ground. However the shuttle bus stops at designated area on the sidewalk of Circulo Del Mundo Rotunda which is close to the gate of NAIA Terminal 3. The driver announces Terminal 3 and one can see the sculpture monument. It’s just a walking distance to the airport gate and the airport building.

The alternative way to reach NAIA terminal 3 is to take a Nichols bound jeep from EDSA Taft which I also tried too. Just ask the driver to drop off near Circulo del Mundo rotunda( the sculpture monument).

For passengers from NAIA Terminal 3 to the MRT & LRT stations in Taft Avenue: Shuttle buses bound for Taft Avenue near MRT and LRT stations is still operational and inside Terminal 3.

I hope this helps otherwise you’re left with no other option but to take a cab.

[HOLIDAY SUGGESTIONS] Holy Week Destinations in the Philippines

$
0
0

I spent the Holy Week at our home in Metro Manila last year which is what we normally do. I know most of you folks have plans of getting away somewhere during the Holy Week. Commercial establishments and government offices close their operations during the Holy Week from Maundy Thursday until Black Saturday.

This Lenten Season, I would not be surprised to see many tourists at the airports, bus terminals and other tourist attractions in the country. Holy Week in the Philippines is a significant event for Filipino Catholics. It is a season of penance, reflection, and fasting which prepares us for Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which we attain redemption.

Since majority of the Filipinos are Catholics, others are encouraged to visit Catholic Churches and participate in Lenten activities. However for those adventure seekers, there are several places to visit and observe the national events of Holy Week in the Philippines. Manila life slows down a little bit as most people get away to see the different beaches and travel destinations in the country.

We truly feel the heat of the summer sunshine and everyone can tell because the heat of the sun invites us for a worthwhile trip out of town and a sign that it’s time to wear those skimpy bikinis and hit the beach. Boracay Island must be very crowded these days but that’s not a problem because the Philippines boasts a scenic and fantastic white sandy beaches waiting to be explored. Remember to always leave the destination clean and pristine the same way you found it.

pundaquit

The province of Zambales is indeed a perfect jump off point for people who want to start exploring the northern side of Luzon which is near Metro Manila. Other interesting sights to see are the nearby islands of Nagsasa, Capones and Camara. These amazing destinations in Zambales can be reached from Pundaquit, Zambales in about 15-30 minute boat ride which offer secluded beaches.

BOLINAO, PATAR

Pangasinan province is known with other white-sand beaches that are undeniably pristine and less crowded even during the high season. In addition to the Hundred Islands, Pangasinan is also blessed with a surprisingly fine white sand and clear blue water which is called Patar beach which is located in Bolinao.

port barton images

Port Barton beach itself is an amazing strip of fine white sand and great for a quick swim. There are roughly over ten pristine white sand islands, a number of top-notch dive and snorkelling sites and even a couple of waterfalls which I am about to explore very soon. Please be aware though that electricity is usually available between the hours of 10 A.M. and midnight. This amazing sleepy beach town is located a bit off the beaten track, which makes getting there all the more exciting for every tourists who like to visit the place.

ANGUIB BEACH, CAGAYAN

ANGUIB BEACH, CAGAYAN is a happy beach. Unspoiled white sand beach. Turquoise clear water. And above all not too crowded.

If you’re planning to stay overnight, one must have tents with them as the only areas at the beach to rest are cottages which is great for those who want to stay and up for a picnic day tour. The sandbar is wide and long enough for everyone to walk in the sand and the trees also add up to the charm of the beach. Its sand may not be as fine as the ones in Boracay and in Bantayan or in Malapascua Beach, but the clear waters certainly will complete your stay.

BANTAYAN, CEBU

If you’re up for a beach bumming and not into the party scene of boracay and those who want to search for a real solitude then this beach is an ideal destination for you. Tourists  whether foreign or local visit Bantayan during the Holy Week, and the island has since been called the “Lenten Capital of the Visayas.”

CALAGUAS, CAMARINES NORTE

A long stretch of beach with powdery soft white sand surrounded by rolling hills without any commercial establishments. Aquamarine waters joined with marine life with bright blue waves dancing at the shore. Calaguas Island is my kind of beach that is dubbed as the happy beach in the Philippines, truly unspoiled, unassuming and pristine. I hope it stays that way.

SUMILON ISLAND BEACH

The Sumilon sandbar is highly noted for its changing and shifting patterns depending on the time of year. This spot right here is my personal favorite part of the island is the shifting White Sand Bar Beach where you can swim, snorkel and have a picnic with your special someone.

BALER SERIES

If you’re more adventurous one must cross a stream or a river. Fun yet tough and very challenging specially for a beginners. An incredible experience plus the scenic views can be enjoyed in Baler. Get lost on purpose in the province of Aurora. Aurora is almost the same size of Metro Manila and  the 2nd class municipality in the province of Aurora. Baler is the Surfing capital of Aurora province. It is known not only for surfing but also for its historical sites.

PALAUI ISLAND, CAGAYAN

Palaui Island is located off the northeastern extremity of Luzon Island, the largest island in the country. It is a part of the town of Santa Ana, Cagayan. A protected area with unspoiled and pristine beaches, uninhabited islands, scenic and breath-taking view. A Spanish era lighthouse built during the early spanish times is located at the highest point of the island. It is still functional powered by solar batteries and an automatic switch with time delay.

CALAYAN ISLANDS

It looks like a Batanes’ famed landscape – Goats wandering and carabao grazed at the quiet area of Nagudungan hill. I have never seen such a jaw-dropping cliffs that are noticeably and distinctively marked by a number of superficial land formations and caves. Needless to say, Nagudungan Hill could be one of the most scenic seascapes in the Philippines.

CALAYAN ISLANDS BEACHES

Getting off the beaten track of Calayan Island makes for an extra rewarding experience while you stay overnight at the Sibang Beach. We wanted every moment to be a learning experience for all of us. Our camping adventure at the Sibang beach also reminds me of our trip in Calaguas in 2012.

We now have a lot of choices these days. I know there are so many more destinations to visit in the country today to enjoy OUR SUMMER getaway! Where ever you are what is more important is we become obedient by trying to listen deeply to what God is saying in the depths of our heart.

Please leave your questions and suggestions at the comment page below regarding the beach, itineraries, transportation, or hotel accommodations.

NUEVA ECIJA | Tasty bite of Pad Thai meal at Fil-Thai Restaurant

We had so much fun with our #FamtourNuevaEcija2014 earlier this summer — and got such great experiences from natural attractions to various culinary flavors — at the moment I saw this Pad Thai in a restaurant in Gapan, Nueva Ecija which I never thought would exist, I knew I wanted to try some more bite.

Admittedly, I love Pad Thai. This sort of like the spaghetti and meatballs of Thai cuisine. It’s predictable and filling, and it’s genuine comfort by the bowlful. Trust me when I say even if you’ve never tasted Pad Thai, you’ll want to dive into the bowl after the first bite.

“Oh, I am craving for the Pad Thai.”  It’s absolutely the most thrilling part on a Thai menu. We love trying several types of Thai dishes. But Pad Thai is just always so mouthwatering, with its tasty combination of stir-fried noodles, eggs, peanuts, lime, fish sauce and peppers and spices.

PAD THAI FIL THAI RESTAURANT IN GAPAN NUEVA ECIJA

Pad Thai is a Thai style fried rice noodle dish and my all time favorite meal so far. One of the best things about Pad Thai is the perfectly powerful balance of spices- combination of sweet, sour and salty created by sugar, fish sauce and chili sauce. So when you go to Gapan, Nueva Ecija, make sure you try or bring home the Pad Thai Fil- Thai Restaurant. We’ll never know it could be your next favorite meal too.

Thousands of beach party enthusiasts have joined the recent Summer Siren Festival at Crystal Beach in San Narciso, Zambales.

Organized by Travel Factor and held on several hectares of pine tree-lined beach, Summer Siren featured a mix of activities including surfing for beginners, yoga, Crossfit, Flow Arts Philippines and Planet Zip programs, bamboo art installations, giant beach inflatables adding color to a heady beachfront environment, and a DJ tower with well-known DJs spinning music. More cool happenings were VIP and yacht parties, and particularly marathon concerts featuring top bands from late afternoon far into the evening, followed by party time each night with a refreshing breeze blowing from offshore.

CHASING DOLPHINS AT THE APO REEF NATURAL PARK

In life it’s not where you go, it’s who you travel with.

Guess who greeted us by our Easter Sunday island-hopping in Sablayan?

Another popular diving destination in the Philippines is Apo reef. Apo reef is considered the second largest coral reef in the world and admittedly the largest in the Philippines. On our way to Apo Reef, we were accompanied by a group of pilot whales. Pilot whales belong to the family of oceanic dolphins.

apo reef images

apo reef images

Aside from Apo reef two others are Apo Island and the Pandan Island. Apo Reef is located 28 kms off the western coast of Mindoro Island, a protected sanctuary and declared a National Park in 1996. Apo Reef Natural Park has a unique natural charm and has a high diversity of corals and has an island covered with abundant vegetation. The site has some of the most surreal spots and a haven for divers.

apo reef images

If you’re up for an underwater action Apo Reef will not disappoint you, schools of several fish, tuna and the photographers dream, barracudas, not to mention the white and black tip reef sharks, manta, sting rays and turtles all in one. Next time I will be coming back with an underwater camera to take more pictures under the sea.
